Creativity Lives Here

Our Story

Crystal Palace Artist Open House is a celebration of the creative spirit that thrives in SE19 and beyond. Born in 2019 from a desire to connect local artists with their neighbours, the initiative has grown into a much-loved fixture in the community calendar.

Each year, we invite artists, designers and makers to open their homes, studios and local venues—transforming Crystal Palace into an art trail filled with discovery, conversation, and connection.

Our most recent event in 2024 showcased the work of 57 artists across 27 venues, supported by a growing audience, 1,200 visitors, and a thriving online presence with 70,000 social media engagements. From paintings and ceramics to textiles, jewellery and digital design, the work is as diverse as the people behind it.

The event is entirely run by volunteers who give their time, energy and ideas to make this celebration of creativity possible.

Crystal Palace:
A Creative Legacy

A heritage rooted in creativity, the history of Crystal Palace is steeped in innovation, the most famous being The Great Exhibition of 1854.

The amazing glass house buildings displayed the best inventions and creations and were home to the Crystal Palace School of Art, Science, Literature and Engineering. Crystal Palace is still following that tradition today of championing the arts and this is recognised through the Crystal Palace Artists Open House weekends.

The Triangle today is home to a vibrant mix of artists, makers, galleries, arts and crafts shops, plus independent retailers, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, pubs, and vintage markets.

Our Aim

We are committed to playing a meaningful role in the community helping to support local artists, designers and makers by raising public awareness of the talent within the local area.

  • Creating and building a strong supportive, inclusive and thriving community.

Working with the community to better raise awareness of local artists, designers and makers in the local area.

  • Enabling, supporting, growing and sharing creativity in all its forms.

Through the maker art spaces, our sponsors, the artists' engagement and further education. Through the marketing work we do to support and promote the local creative talent in our community.

  • Treating others how you want to be treated.

We work with a number of suppliers, artists and community members. We endeavour to create, take care of and grow these relationships respectfully, to treat every person with honor and dignity and value their perspectives and feelings, and to ensure a cohesive and thriving community.
